Research Interests

My actual research is oriented in three main directions: the morphological modeling of the continental shelf, the study of the hydrodynamics and morphology of saltmarshes, and the numerical study of equations characteristic of Coastal Processes and Hydrology.
Sea level oscillations in the geological past have submerged the coastal plains during transgression and emerged the continental shelf surface during regression. I am focusing on the formation and evolution of riverine networks during low water stand, and subsequent filling during high water stand.
The second topic deals with the observation, understanding and modeling of creeks and channels developing on a salt-marsh surface. The final goal is a dynamic model linking phenomena occurring at different spatial scales. The model will be able to follow the physical evolution of salt- marsh environments and to predict the impact of human intervention and global climate changes, like sea level raise.
I am also utilizing the recent developments in computational modeling to resolve typical equations of Surface Processes and Hydrology.
